Summary
The DoT will lead the HEM R&D organization to deliver new products and provide customer and manufacturing technical services. New products will be delivered in accordance with the business’s defined New Product Development process which is aligned with the Honeywell VPD process. The DoT will be expected to work closely with business leadership to attain VPD Silver certification. The business currently has R&D associated with its manufacturing sites in the US and Thailand, but the DoT will be expected to identify opportunities to work with either existing Honeywell entities or with third parties in High Growth Regions, to support regional growth. The successful candidate will be expected to be comfortable working across national boundaries, and especially to lead high performance teams focused on HGR opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop a portfolio of project opportunities for the business aligned with overall market requirements - Rigorously manage the R&D portfolio aligned with VPD - Work with the Director of Process Technology to identify opportunities for improved manufacturing technology, focused on cost reduction, yield & quality improvements and rate enhancements. Working with Product Manager, ensure that selected manufacturing projects achieve their financial and timing goals - Identify opportunities for productivity improvements, through investments in capital, use of Six Sigma tools, and where possible leveraging resources in HGR - Interface with Operations as needed for design, commissioning and start-up. - Maintain vigilance on competitive activity and relevant chemical literature, and conduct periodic assessments of R&D capabilities and gaps. - Coach and develop employees, including direct and matrix reports. Build a pipeline of future technical leaders within the organization - Communicate strategic objectives, resource allocation and execution plans globally - Support business management and marketing in the development of a strategic plan, including planning for new R&D capabilities - Recognize the importance of Intellectual Property to the business, and ensure that there is an effective process to manage and protect company IP - Staffing, mentoring and development of highly skilled technical professionals - Manage multi-national teams - Exhibit a strong customer internal orientation with comfort in a matrixed organization
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Candidate Qualifications:** - BS Degree in Material Science, Chemistry or related discipline with at least 10 years of relevant Product development & Commercialization experience is required - Minimum of 5 years managing product commercialization/integration with a demonstrated track record of new product development and/or process innovation required - Minimum 5 years experience with the semiconductor customer base (OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturers & IDM - Integrated Data Managers), development node cycles, industry landscape & business cycle is required **Additional Candidate Qualifications:** - PhD degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or related discipline with 10 or more years of relevant R&D/commercialization experience strongly preferred - Knowledge of the metrology and analyses needed to succeed at material development for advanced semiconductor nodes - A detailed understanding of the manufacturing of semiconductor and display devices (FEOL, MEOL, BEOL) and the impact of quality and supply chain and packaging - Demonstrate strong business acumen and understand the use of technology as a competitive differentiator - Ability to prepare and critique financial assessments of R&D projects - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Committed to laboratory and process safety, and environmental stewardship - Experience with Six Sigma tools desirable - Experience with advanced mathematical modeling, data processing & simulation techniques - Superior project management skills and ability to motivate teams to adhere to timelines
