Summary
As director of engineering, you will be responsible for the people, processes and tools we need to deliver an ambitious product roadmap. Our product team is organized as several cross-functional delivery teams, and you should be excited to work alongside peers in product management and design.
Responsibilities
* Run and continuously improve an agile engineering process that empowers engineers with the context, autonomy, and tools needed to do their best work, and promotes shipping high-quality product efficiently and predictably. * Partner with product management, design and executive leadership to ensure our engineering organization is well aligned with overall product and company objectives. * Work with engineering leadership to identify strategic technical investments required to support product/business objectives, and ensure those projects are properly scoped, prioritized, resourced, and delivered. * Keep your skills sharp with technical contributions to non-critical path projects (internal tools, bug fixes, open source, etc) * Ensure Hightower is well represented in and participates in New York’s engineering community via events, content, open-source and other initiatives. * Lead all recruiting activities, including planning, sourcing strategies, interview process, and associated metrics. * Create an onboarding process that ensures new team members feel welcomed and productive in their first hours, days and weeks. * Coach and mentor our engineering team, creating a structured environment and feedback loop that supports career development and job satisfaction. * Maintain a healthy working environment that’s both supportive and challenging, and celebrates team and individual success.
Ideal Candidate
* Degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline preferred. * Background as a strong individual contributor, with several years experience leading an engineering team in a high-growth environment, including responsibility for recruiting and performance management. * Experience in a complex B2B SaaS environment preferred.
