Sterilization Service Engineer

Health Quest is in need of Sterilization Service Engineer for Poughkeepsie, New York. Please refer to job functions and qualifications stated below.

Maintains in-depth working knowledge of electronic circuitry, pneumatic, plumbing and hydraulic systems as well as test equipment applications in order to perform compliance testing according to manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Performs electrical, mechanical and inspections according to manufacturer’s specifications of sterilization systems and related ancillary equipment.
- Calibrates and evaluates according to manufacturer’s specifications all sterilization systems and subsystems to ensure proper performance standards.
- Identifies faulty equipment while implementing appropriate corrective action to the subsystem and/or component level as required.
- Develops service level standards and performs preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies according to manufacturer’s specification to ensure proper equipment performance. Compiles all pertinent information and enters data on computer for further evaluation of future needs.

Trouble-shoots and repairs sterilization equipment including but not limited to washers, cart washers by maintaining an analytical knowledge of utilization of equipment from the end user’s view and perform board/component level repairs as required.
- Orders on a priority basis, sterilization system supplies, repair parts and services as necessary.
- Expedites repairs through review of service manuals, service notes and familiarity with all servicing methods minimizing customer downtime.
- Leads installation/de-installation from start to finish ensuring proper and efficient implementation with minimal disruption to hospital services.
- Performs acceptance testing on new sterilization systems prior to use.
- Assists in the design of installation of equipment as required at new facilities.

Instructs equipment users and technicians within HealthQuest in the proper us and implementation of sterilization equipment.
- Communicates and interacts appropriately with the Central Sterilization Departments support staff as required to maintain a positive working relationship at all times.
- Conducts in-house continuing education programs for HealthQuest’s users by keeping them abreast of equipment developments on an ongoing basis.
- Provides status of equipment and other pertinent information to appropriate supervisors as required.
- Contributes to service communication improvements, direction and changes to enhance the Clinical Engineering Department relations.
- Ensures availability for servicing equipment as required to provide proper service coverage to meet the hospital’s needs.

- Adheres to Infection Control and Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures at all times.
- Maintains appearance of work area(s) according to department standards at all times.
- Adheres to all safety regulations reporting any variances to supervisor immediately.
- Attends and actively participates in all in-service as required.
- Reports immediately all incidents, irregularities, unsafe conditions, equipment and/or unusual occurrences to supervisor.

- Displays a caring and courteous attitude and represents the hospital in a positive manner to all persons noted above.
- Promotes and contributes positively to relationships with service customers.
- Maintains the confidentiality of employees and departmental information with no infractions.
- Adheres to departmental and hospital dress codes as observed by supervisor, and wears a HQ picture identification badge, 100% of the time.
- Participates in activities to promote teamwork within the department and with other departments for optimal patient care and positive departmental relations.
- Accepts assignments from supervisor/department head willingly and works effectively as a member of department team.
- Performs other duties as necessary as directed by supervisor to work effectively as a department team member and to cover other duties as necessary during absence, vacation or vacancy of other employees.
Education:
- Minimum of a two year AAS Degree in Electronics or equivalent military experience.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years' experience in related sterilization equipment.

Familiar with Steris, Sterad and Getinge sterilization equipment.
- Strong electronics/mechanical abilities.
- Vacuum and pressure gauges.
- Analog & Digital Circuits experience.
- Plumbing, hydraulics and pneumatics experience a plus
Computer literacy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
