Summary
Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking an Senior Gas Pipeline Engineer to work at our Walnut Creek, California office. Walnut Creek is Golder’s center for pipeline engineering and design practices. Qualified individuals must have strong engineering and design experience related to pipeline systems engineering and construction, or experience related to piping in the oil & gas, petroleum refining or mining sectors. The successful candidate will be managing and engineering gas pipeline systems projects that typically require hydraulic friction loss calculations, pipe sizing and material selection, specification and sizing of process equipment such as compressors, control valves, meters, filters and dehydrators.
Responsibilities
* Prepare project funding documents such as cost estimates, equipment bid summaries and authorization requests * Develop project scoping documents such as P&IDs, piping plans, design criteria * Direct detailed engineering by junior staff including line hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing and specifications * Provide field project coordination, engineering services and troubleshooting with direct client interface * Write or oversee technical reports * Manage mid to large-size projects and teams up to $50MM in total installed cost. * Contribute to projects with major focus in leadership of technical excellence or project management for larger or more complex projects
Ideal Candidate
* A minimum of 7 years of project engineering * A minimum 5 years in the oil and gas sector with both project engineering and design experience * BS engineering degree from an accredited academic institution * PE license preferred * Knowledge of pipeline engineering for gas transmission, metering, flow and pressure control, storage and withdrawal * Knowledge of gas and utility codes and regulations including49 CFR Part 192, CPUC GO 112E, ASME B31.8S * Understanding of Pipeline Hazardous Materials and Safety Administration * Project management experience or certifications * MS Office competent – strong Excel skills preferred * Solid organization and time management abilities * Authorization to work in the United States * Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude * Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written * High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic * Willingness to travel internationally as dictated by project demands * Pass a pre-employment physical including a drug screening and background check
