Summary
Golder Associates is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI. This is a junior position in the consulting stream and is regarded as a professional person in the delivery of engineering design services in line with the Golder suite of geotechnical engineering.
Responsibilities
* Use your scientific and engineering knowledge to solve ground engineering problems, specifically soils. * Analyze and interpret field and laboratory information. * Perform field investigations including geotechnical logging of soils and rocks, groundwater investigations and sampling. * Perform field construction quality assurance services including compaction testing, geosynthetics installation monitoring, and piping installations. * Perform geotechnical laboratory testing. * Perform engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, leachate calculations, and storm water calculations. * Contribute to preparation of reports. * Be prepared to travel 50% of the time. * Be prepared to work in a fast-paced, client driven environment.
Ideal Candidate
* Relevant degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering * FE/EIT registration is preferred * A minimum of 2 years’ experience post-graduation in a consulting or similar position * Broad knowledge of geotechnical and geological engineering principles and practices * Specific knowledge related to soils engineering and related disciplines, including experience working in a geotechnical soils laboratory * Experience with Construction Bidding package preparation is preferred * Experience with field work for soils and geosynthetics construction quality assurance is preferred * Experience with geotechnical software programs such as GRLWEAP, Lpile, Slide, MathCAD, and Settle 3D is preferred * Experience with water design programs such as HELP model and HEC-HMS is a plus * Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred
