Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) serves 16 counties in Northern Illinois.
Summary
The Marketing Manager is responsible for managing external communications, media relations, and publications consistent with guidelines and standards established by GSUSA and Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. The Marketing Manager will collaborate with an external marketing consultant and other departments to develop and execute a marketing plan to support the council strategic goals and objectives. She/he will work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to execute a comprehensive council marketing plan and accompanying budgets.
Responsibilities
Major responsibilities include: * Identify, prioritize, and build relationships with media channels across the entire council geography (16 counties) to ensure Girl Scouts’ visibility and inclusion in regular coverage of issues pertaining to women and girls. * Manage a portfolio of paid and earned media through media buys and sponsorships. * In alignment with GSNI’s integrated marketing and communications plan, regularly pitch stories of interest to major media outlets and arrange meetings with editors/reporters. * Ensure brand consistency in all external publications, advertisements, verbal communications and written communications across the council and in all four service areas. * Assist with daily social media and bi-weekly website updates and monitoring. * Support the marketing and communications needs of various GSNI departments whose work is primarily focused on an external audience, including membership recruitment and fund development. * Lead the design, development and maintenance of GSNI displays and materials used at major public functions. * Manage a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting external communication about Girl Scouting to media channels in their communities. * Work closely with the Communications Manager and Graphic Designer to manage overlap and consistency within the department. * Assist in editing outgoing council publications and communications to ensure quality and branding. * Assist in photographing Girl Scout activities and manipulation and maintenance of images for print and Web use. * Other duties as may be assigned.
Ideal Candidate
Skills and/or Qualifications: * Demonstrated leadership, collaborative, management, and relationship-building skills * Ability to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week; weekends and evenings may be required * Must have a reliable vehicle for travel to other areas within the GSNI territory on a weekly basis * Must be able to sit or stand for long periods * Must be able to lift 25 pounds * The ability to demonstrate and articulate a genuine passion for the Girl Scout mission and vision Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience * Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, including established relationships with media outlets, executing social media and digital marketing strategies * CGraphic design, web design, photo editing, and other marketing skills preferred, but not required
Compensation and Working Conditions
Annual Pay $35,500 - $37,500

Hours per week 36 and up

Additional Notes on Compensation

Salary / Benefits: Salary range: $35,500 – 37,500 per year, DOE. Full benefits package: 3 weeks’ vacation, 12 sick days, 10 holidays, health/dental/vision insurance, LTD/life insurance, and 401(k) are included. Exempt.
