Lead Backend Engineer

GameChanger is a mobile platform for amateur sports communities. Our scoring app delivers coaching insights and live fan updates for over 150,000 teams.

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you'll work on the team building the APIs powering our next generation of sports community applications. This work spans the API server itself, as well as libraries to interface with databases, queueing systems, analytics platforms, etc. As a lead engineer, we'll expect you to contribute expertise at the architectural level and advocate for clean, maintainable systems design.

• Work with a team of talented and motivated polyglot engineers
• Build the backend infrastructure and APIs supporting our family of iOS, Android, and web applications
• Build and maintain systems supporting billions of records and millions of transactions with high concurrency
• Support and collaborate with multiple user-facing teams to develop reusable and scalable architectures and tools
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers on your team
• Promote responsible engineering practices, including automated testing

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or a related field
• 5+ years software development experience
• Comfort working across multiple languages, storage systems, and frameworks
• Experience designing and implementing large, feature-rich APIs
• Deep understanding of relational data modeling
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, especially in complex systems
• Proficient in modern Node.js, Go, Java, TypeScript, or asynchronous Python
