Summary
The Network Security Engineer’s primary role at Fred’s is to implement and operationalize security solutions to ensure the protection of the company’s network, systems, and information in accordance to the security strategy set forth by the security leadership team.
Responsibilities
* Engineering security solutions, support, and design for all security solutions including but not limited to multifactor authentication, intrusion detection/prevention, web proxies, data loss prevention, end-point protection, authentication authorities, secure email, digital forensics, advanced persistent threat systems, device encryption, etc. * Assisting in the evaluation and leading the implementation of selected security solutions for adherence to documented company standards, policies, and regulatory responsibilities. * Providing expertise on the effective use of commercial security solutions to protect against new and existing threats while meeting regulatory and customer security requirements. * Acting as a key stakeholder on the Enterprise Security Incident Response Team. * Providing input to the security leadership for enhancing the information security strategy when necessary. * Other duties may include but are not limited to performing vulnerability scanning; application security assessments; penetration testing; participating in network, security hardware engineering and troubleshooting efforts; technical writing; as well as, mentoring security operations associates.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications** * Minimum of 3 year of hands-on experience with security tools (security scanners, monitoring and detection, web filtering, email, malware protection, dual-factor authentication, and security analysis tools both network and host based solutions). * Minimum 3 years of technical experience in the security aspects of multiple computer platforms, operating systems (Windows and Linux), products, network protocols, and system architecture or equivalent training and knowledge through education. * Comprehensive knowledge of information security components, principles, practices, and procedures. * Well-informed on security industry trends, attack techniques, mitigation techniques, and security technologies by attending conferences, networking with peers, and other educational opportunities. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with project teams to ensure deliverables are deployed in a secure and consistent manner * Flexible, proactive, quick to learn and possessing a “can-do' attitude. **Preferred Qualifications** * An advanced degree in Computer Science or a business-related field. * Relevant IT security and network certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNP). * Lean Six Sigma, COBIT, or ITIL certification.
