Summary
This position is expected to satisfy the product development needs of the business unit as well as independently develop products and processes that will keep Foster Farms competitive and profitable. As part of a multi functional business team they will manage the technical resource utilization of a portfolio of projects. They will be expected to independently evaluate food ingredients, new technologies and processing equipment that will improve costs, production efficiency, and food safety. In addition, they are expected to visit customers to make product presentations with the sales team.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical support to develop and implement new and/or improved products and processes. * Review and issue cost estimate requests and technical product documentation * Identify, test and optimize ingredients and production parameters which will result in cost savings * Provide technical assistance and training to operations
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science or related field in addition to ten plus years experience in meat/poultry product development. * MS in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science or related field in addition to 7-10 years experience in meat/poultry product development. * Ph.D. in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science or related field in addition to 5-7 years experience in meat/poultry product development. * Extensive knowledge of meat/poultry processing, food processing and related equipment. * Extensive knowledge of USDA labeling regulations and HACCP principles * Excellent written and oral communication skills. Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheets. * Must be able to travel (auto and air) * Excellent math skills - must be able to formulate food products.
