Summary
As an FM Global Jurisdictional Inspector, your influence positively affects the outcome and makes a difference in the future of FM Clients, FM Global and yourself. You have the ability to use your boiler and pressure vessel knowledge and inspection experience to help clients avoid potential disasters - saving property, businesses and lives. This position is primarily responsible for helping clients meet requirements of the State and Local jurisdictional authorities in which they are located by consulting in conjunction with conducting jurisdictional certificate inspections of boilers and pressure vessels. The current opening will service northern Illinois, portions of Wisconsin and occasionally the upper peninsula of Michigan.
Responsibilities
If you enjoy variety, put your time-management and organization skills to use handling field visits and office work. You will work with minimal supervision and must be capable of working independently. Jurisdictional Inspectors are charged with ensuring that inspections are conducted to satisfy the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, the Rules of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, The National Board Inspection Code, jurisdictional laws and regulations, and FM Global programs, procedures and instructions. You will operate from your home office and will be expected to travel to clients' facilities daily; overnight travel is expected approximately 30% of the time.
Ideal Candidate
* Based upon experience - a minimum of a high school diploma, an Associates Degree from a 2 year technical school or a BS in Engineering. * National Board and state certifications and be qualified to review repairs in accordance with the NBIC and FMIC requirements. * Strong overall technical knowledge in the boiler and pressure vessel construction and inspection industry, mechanical and electrical equipment, understanding of management systems and a good understanding of nondestructive methods and results are necessary. * Strong verbal and written communications skills * Good analytical, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills * Efficient time management ability with minimal supervision * Valid driver’s license * Proficient in MS Office products * Use of Jurisdictional On-Line (JOL)
Compensation and Working Conditions
Reports to Chicago Operations Chief Inspector.
