Summary
ExxonMobil Refining and Supply is seeking candidates for a Process Safety Engineer role at the Baytown Refinery. The successful candidate will join the Baytown Refinery organization, in the Technical Department and will collaborate with Operations, Engineers, and Management to facilitate safe operations at the refinery. The Process Safety Engineer will also apply process safety fundamentals to support project development. The Process Safety Engineer will also provide technical mentorship to various engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and ensure a safe working environment at the site, ensuring compliance with all safety, health, environmental requirements * Participate in and lead Baytown Refinery HAZOPs * Provide technical support and lead HAZOP and Safety Relief Review follow up items * Facilitate Risk Assessments for HAZOP and Safety Relief Review follow up items * Facilitate “Ad Hoc” Risk Assessments as needed/requested * Review “Unusual” operations as requested by Operations * Perform process safety review/approval as part of the Baytown Refinery Management of Change (MOC) process * Facilitate local capital project safety reviews (HAZOP) and ensure follow ups are incorporated into projects * Review and approve Facility Design Basis (FDB) with additional focus on deviations from Design Practices and Global Practices * Participate in Incident Investigations as requested * Collaborate with applicable Process Safety networks to maintain safety leadership and share best practices
Ideal Candidate
* B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree * A minimum of 5 years of direct process safety or process design experience * Excellent oral & written communication skills and problem solving ability * Solid understanding of refinery processes * In depth knowledge and experience with process design and safety standards * Good engineering judgment; ability to recognize, assess, and mitigate hazards * The ability to work in a dynamic, team environment, fostering collaboration within the organization, and also engage an individual contributor to apply safety and risk management tools * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders * Working knowledge in carrying out process economic evaluations **Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities** * Strong analytical and communication skills * Demonstrated work experience in supporting downstream operations
