Summary
The Tank Integrity Engineer supports the Integrity Management Program and is responsible for managing the comprehensive aboveground storage tank program.
Responsibilities
1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities; observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action. 2. Manages aboveground tank construction, inspection, repair, and modification projects from initiation through closure including, but not limited to, the preparation of estimates, the development of project plans and bid packets, selection of external contractors and service vendors, the purchase of materials, coordination of construction and inspection activities, reporting projects status updates, managing change controls, start-up, and completion of post project reviews. 3. Documents, records, and maintains information about the inspection, repair, and modification of aboveground storage tanks. 4. Monitors the costs and schedules of projects and takes corrective actions to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and under budget. 5. Creates and presents technical training programs to other engineers and pipeline personnel. 6. Establish/maintain a network of industry peers for best practices benchmarking. 7. Communicates directly with the Health, Safety and Environmental and Operations groups, assuring all facilities maintenance and tank work is performed in a safe and timely manner, with minimum disruption to product movements.
Ideal Candidate
? Ability to actively engage in safe behavior and understand and follow the principles and methods related to pipeline and workplace safety as established by the Company. ? Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, policies procedures, equipment operating parameters, and all applicable DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS and OSHA requirements. ? Knowledge of applicable DOT, state, and local regulations and API standards related to the construction, inspection, repair, and modification of aboveground storage tanks. ? Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and support and embrace a changing environment with shifting priorities. ? Knowledge of principles and methods for planning, monitoring, tracking, and managing the people, time, budget, and quality of work on project(s). ? Skilled in the use project management principles and tools to complete projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Able to establish rapport, relationships, and networks across a broad range of people and groups in order to ensure the successful completion of projects. ? Ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; set objectives and goals; break down work into the process steps; develop schedules and task/people assignments; anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks; measure performance against goals; evaluate results. ? Practices active attention to minute but necessary aspects of tasks. ? Ability to analyze needs and requirements to create and evaluate plans to inspect, repair and modify pipeline facilities and aboveground storage tanks. ? Is able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect. ? Ability to relate well to all kinds of people, up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organization; build appropriate rapport; build constructive and effective relationships; use diplomacy and tact. ? Ability to develop estimates of overall costs associated with projects, track actual costs, and project future costs. Translates fundamental financial indicators in order to predict future probabilities, costs, trends, etc. ? Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and bosses; is effective both inside and outside the organization; commands attention and can manage group process during the presentation. ? Ability to effectively work and cooperate with supervisors, co-workers and vendors. ? Ability to follow corporate policies and the directions of supervisors. ? Ability to refrain from causing or contributing to the disruption of the workplace.
