About Electronic Arts
Electronic Arts Inc. is a leading global interactive entertainment software company. EA delivers games, content and online services for Internet-connected consoles, personal computers, mobile phones and tablets.
Summary
We are looking for someone to lead and direct our documentation efforts for EA’s Digital Platform group. We have both a broad set of existing content that needs to be managed and improved, as well as continuous needs for new content with varying levels of technical complexity. Our job is to make adoption of our platform technology as seamless as possible. We’re looking for someone who can shape, create, partner, produce, and generally ‘level up’ our developer-facing information presence.
Responsibilities
* You are passionate about and have experience with organizing large amounts of technical information in a way that facilitates users finding the information they need. You partner with product owners to shape the information architecture strategy and work with the UX designers to come up with easily navigable experiences for both web and mobile. * You manage a wide range of content, from low-level technical integration documentation, to product overview content, all the way up product marketing material. You hire and direct a small team of contract technical writers to transform initial content into polished customer-ready materials. * You will work with multiple internal Product Managers, each of whom is responsible for providing you the raw information set for their domain and specific platform capabilities. You welcome the challenge of reaching out to subject matter experts and acquiring the information you need to get your job done. Yes, that sometimes means bugging an engineer or product owner to send data to you, explain complex topic in a conversation, or review your writing for accuracy and approval. * While you don’t write all of the documentation yourself, you are familiar with all of it including how “good” it is. You work with internal teams to drive continuous improvements, including adherence to the style guidelines that you own and maintain.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or equivalent * Proven leadership in information design and structure * 5+ years experience writing advanced, muli-component ttechnical documentation * Proven ability to design and deliver developer-oriented documentation * Mastery of the English language **It would also be great if you have:** * Experience with documentation auto-generation tools (and specifically Doxygen) * Experience documenting APIs and SDKs * Web development experience, including working knowledge of HTML and CSS * Product marketing copy writing experience * Experience using Atlassian Confluence * Experience using one or more web authoring and content management tool
