Summary
Eaton’s Ephesus business located in Syracuse, NY has an opening for a Sustaining Engineer to create bills of material, design custom lighting fixtures and accessories, maintain engineering drawing packages, and drive cost-out projects on existing product lines. Ephesus designs and manufactures high-output LED lighting and control solutions for challenging applications in the industrial and sporting markets. Ephesus is focused on innovating advanced LED solutions that will enrich and illuminate the world by creating brighter, more vibrant and more sustainable environments. Recent successes include NFL stadiums (Phoenix Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings) and NHL arenas (Nashville Predators, Ottawa Senators) as well as a wide variety of collegiate, municipal and industrial installations.
Responsibilities
* Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs) for standard product and product releases. Set up new part numbers by working closely with purchasing, vendors and accounting. * Design custom parts and products using Solid Works per customer specifications. * Identify cost savings projects and designs. Complete these projects from start to finish on time and within budget. * Develop good working relationships with vendors and the purchasing group to obtain quotes, prototypes and rework of parts. * Complete designs, maintain document control processes, change notice (ECN) releases and creating BOMs & part number set up. * Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. * Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes on existing product lines to reduce cost. * Evaluate existing product lines for inefficiencies and DFM improvements. Drive to continually reduce cost across all product lines. * Support the Customer Service department with answers to technical questions with regard to products, installations and field service issues. * Troubleshoot engineering related warranty and service issues with customers to determine root cause and problem solve solutions. This involves having * the requisite product knowledge needed to identify, address, and solve problems, * having good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to talk to a customer about solutions and give them a positive response, and * experience and creativity to come up with cost effective approaches. * Other duties as assigned. * Ensure legacy CAD data is complete, and revision/change information is stored correctly in PLM/SAP ** Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)** * Basic Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution * Minimum 1 year AutoCAD & Solidworks experience * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. * This position does not include relocation benefits. Only candidates currently residing within a 50 mile radius of Syracuse will be considered. ** Preferred Qualifications** * Experience within the lighting or electrical manufacturing industry preferred * Prior project management experience * 2 years' experience designing for a manufacturing environment * Experience created Bill of Materials * Wiring/Circuits knowledge and the ability to create proper wiring diagrams * Experience creating part drawings for manufacturing * FMEA Experience
Ideal Candidate
* Ideal candidate has a good understanding of manufacturing processes. Solid working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, extrusion, casting and other fabrication processes. * Comfortable with technology and has a strong working knowledge of MS office suite, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SAP * Effective verbal & written communication skills to interface with managers, vendors, customers and peers. * Must have an analytical and process-driven approach, with a high attention to detail * Capability in multi-tasking, including prioritization of work and management/organization of time. * Ability to project manage effectively * Strong drive for results is essential, with self-directed leadership, requiring minimal supervision & being proactive. * Must possess high ethical standards and be comfortable working in a fast paced, changing environment. * Ability to perform all job functions in adherence to Eaton’s philosophy and values, ethics, policies as well as the Environmental, Health and Safety standards
