Summary
We are currently seeking a Director of Mobile Audio to lead our mobile audio devices business. The charter of the mobile audio group is to develop audio products that enable a spectacular entertainment experience on mobile devices. The person in this role will initially focus on a product portfolio that addresses the use-case of consumption of professionally created entertainment content on smartphones and tablets. They will use that product portfolio as a foundation to expand to other use-cases such as exchange of consumer-created content between mobile devices through messaging and social-media services. They will then further expand to consider all use-cases on mobile devices where audio plays a role. The role requires an individual that thinks deeply about consumer usage of mobile devices even though Dolby products are usually delivered to mobile device OEMs as opposed to directly to consumers. This individual will lead a team of product managers based in the US and Asia.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the mobile audio device business * Responsible for product and business strategy. Understand latent and expressed consumer needs and build products that address those needs * Lead a team of product managers that specify the product and work with engineering to ensure that products that meet market needs are delivered on time * Responsible for revenue. Work with Dolby’s Sales team to identify customer prospects, and help qualify prospects * Dolby is a matrixed organization. This individual will work with peers in other parts of the company that are responsible for other parts of the ecosystem and ensure success for the mobile audio business.
Ideal Candidate
* The role requires good business acumen, the ability to develop business and product strategy and the technical skills needed to understand and specify technology products. An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or computer science is required. * Experience leading a team of product managers * Deep expertise in mobile devices and experience working with OEMs and chip companies * Experience with consumer audio/video entertainment products * Must have shipped multiple software products * Ability to think deeply and to be a thought-leader * Leadership skills. Will gain the respect of team members and peers. Can lead the team to execute on short-term goals while also paying attention to the long-term health of the business * Innovation mindset * Ability to communicate well in verbal and written form and be able to evangelize one’s products
