Responsibilities
Job description The Design Consultant works as part of Doblin’s innovation delivery teams to collaboratively define new future business concepts and new product/service/system offerings, including conceptual direction and refined formal expression, under the direction of a project manager or more senior designer. This individual will be expected to demonstrate primary interest and experience within the design practice, and also bring a client-facing skillset required to execute innovation consulting projects. Day-to-day work will include working with a multi-disciplinary set of colleagues and contributing heavily to the design process throughout client casework. Internally, Design Consultants are responsible for contributing to the development and communication of principles, methods and intellectual property related to Doblin’s design capability, sometimes to audiences of non-designers. Specific responsibilities will include: * Design and develop client communication materials and client events (overall experience, supporting assets and artifacts, etc.) * Support client engagement and internal teams in the exploratory development and iterative processes. * Define visual direction to depict new offerings and businesses. * Contribute to concept prototyping and evaluative testing of new concepts * Support business development and proposals for new client work * Contribute to internal research and development projects Career path/trajectory Doblin provides opportunities for Design Consultants to choose a path that suits them once they have gained exposure to the process. Some choose to pursue a design specialty over time, while others follow a more generalist innovation consultant path, which includes project management roles.
Ideal Candidate
Requirements * Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent command of composition, typography, color and fundamental communication * Ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions requiring rapid transitions between collaborative and individual work * Technical proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc. * Basic knowledge of user research methods; ability to support planning and execution of research; contribute to analysis and interpretation of research to inform definition of design principles * Undergraduate degree in design, plus at least 2 years of prior work experience or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
