Summary
Our technical writers provide instructive guides on managing Linux infrastructure, installing and configuring software, and implementing best practices. We are looking for someone to lead the Technical Writing Team and support the DO Tech writers as they expand our knowledge base for Linux users and developers around the world. As the Technical Writing Manager, you will be responsible for leading and building out your team, with an emphasis on hiring, coaching, developing, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
* Managing a team of technical writers and leading the team’s day to day activities * Defining, documenting, and presenting strategy and roadmap for upcoming writing initiatives and sprints * Providing regular feedback and guidance from a performance and development perspective * Communicating information and ensuring the team has access to necessary resources to be successful * Hiring, attracting, retaining and developing team of linux and coding focused technical writers * Working closely with the editorial team to ensure alignment, define scope, milestones, deliverables and the resources needed * Reporting on the team’s performance and output to senior management * Managing the budget, processes, and all team related activities for your team
Ideal Candidate
* Strong leadership and coaching skills * Experience managing technical writers in a fast paced, high growth environment * Experience with content strategy and strong editorial skills * Excellent written and verbal communication * Expertise with at least one of the following languages: Go, Ruby, Python, C/C++, Java, Javascript, etc * Familiarity with Linux and Distributed Systems * Computer Science degree or cumulative relevant experience preferred * 3+ years of experience in a similar role (as a content manager, documentation manager, etc) * Local to NY or willingness to relocate
