Summary
The Legal Counsel will handle a wide range of business related legal matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the foundation of the legal function, including the review and negotiation of contracts, advising on employment matters, developing processes for our IP portfolio, and developing the processes for a wide variety of legal initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including software licensing, vendor, technology, master services, terms of use, confidentiality and non-disclosure and other agreements, and supporting the negotiation of applicable privacy, data security and IP provisions of inbound and outbound agreements * Involvement with and advising on employment matters * Furthering the development of our IP portfolio, including coordinating with various teams to determine priorities and strategies and counseling and educating engineering teams on matters of patentability * Keeping abreast, and advising on potential business impact, of proposed changes to applicable privacy, data security, IP, marketing and related laws and regulations * Leading the preparation, implementation and refinement of appropriate forms, processes and procedures * Developing, improving and maintaining our standard commercial agreements, contract negotiation playbooks and legal processes to help us scale
Ideal Candidate
* A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including time at a leading law firm and experience in-house at a technology or internet company in roles of increasing responsibility * Flexibility and eagerness to work hard in fast-paced environment, on a broad variety of legal matters * Excellent contract drafting, reviewing and negotiation skills * Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation, cooperation, diplomacy, planning, organization and coordination * Highly analytical and has exceptional business and legal issue identification and problem-solving skills * Hard-working, trustworthy and extremely detail oriented * Extremely bright but also has an EQ that matches your IQ, and the ability to engage effectively with all levels of employees and management * Of the highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics, with impeccable judgement
