Finance Operations Manager (Sr. Manager)

Demand Media, Inc. (NYSE: DMD) is a diversified Internet company that builds platforms across its media and marketplace properties to enable communities of creators to reach passionate audiences in large and growing lifestyle categories.

The Finance team is seeking a sharp, motivated Finance Operations Manager to partner with our media properties to drive the growth of the business. This position will work closely with all levels of management and across numerous businesses to analyze yield performance, evaluate potential opportunities, and present clear and executable solutions focused on profitable growth of the business. They must be able to communicate effectively with team members and business partners while tailoring the message to suit the audience. As a manager, they should have the capacity to evaluate trends and opportunities and provide value with their recommendations and analyses. This position will report directly to the SVP of Finance. Please note that relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

• Develop, implement, and maintain financial and operating metrics tracking and forecasting
• Manage and maintain weekly revenue reporting for multiple lines of business and media properties
• Prepare detailed forecasts for revenue and operating expenses and analyze financial, operational variances, and historical trends
• Report on new product initiatives and returns
• Maintain advertising yield reporting and make ad product/partner recommendations based on ad performance
• Summarize and present results to executive/management team
• Ad-hoc projects (including deal analyses)

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent
• MBA preferred
• 8+ years of experience in a business analytics/operational finance role
• Previous ad tech industry experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – building complex financial models, working efficiently with large data sets, and preparing presentations
• Proficient knowledge of Hyperion, Oracle, or other software packages used to manage daily operations, collect and analyze data, and prepare complex plans and forecasts
• SQL skills a plus
• Good business judgment and ability to synthesize, analyze, and extract implications from data
• Ability to problem-solve creatively
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Detail oriented, able to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Must have a great attitude, be self-motivated, and self-organized and be hungry to make an impact and constantly develop in a fast growing organization
