Machine Operator II

Established in 1937, this modest business prospered through the manufacture of such products as plastic key cases, steel tape measures, and identification tags for the armed services.

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cup formers to produce a quality product. Operates various production machines making adjustments to maximize up time, rates and yields. Meets company standards for safety, quality, production and process improvement.

* Reads and reviews daily production schedule. * Maintains quality and speed control by continual adjustments of gauges that control temperature, pressure, trim, rolls and speed to material. * Completes daily reports including cycle time, daily production, scrap tickets and packaging. * Performs general preventative maintenance on equipment. Monitors machines for mechanical problems by listening for unusual noises and visually checking gears, hoses, gauges, materials, etc. * Initiates troubleshooting and solving mechanical problems. If unsuccessful in making repairs, notifies supervisor and/or maintenance for assistance. * Ensures adequate packaging materials and rolls (if applicable) are available in the department for production runs. Follows roll change procedures and threads rolls into machine (if applicable). * Performs change-over and set-up. * Keeps general work area clean. * Provides guidance to Product Handlers and Forklift Operators on moving materials. * Performs other duties as assigned.

* Two (2) year experience operating manufacturing equipment preferably in packaging or paper conversion. * Experience using process control equipment preferred. * Ability to use measuring devices. * Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
