About Credit Karma
With over 60 million members, Credit Karma is working to make financial progress possible for everyone. Since 2007, we have been knocking down barriers that block the path to financial health, helping our members make informed choices and feel confident about their opportunities.
Summary
Credit Karma is looking for a top-notch in-house writer to join our small but mighty editorial team. Our ideal candidate has experience turning stories around on a dime, adheres to journalistic standards and cares about what happens to content AFTER it’s written.
Responsibilities
* Write and pitch articles for the Credit Karma website that adhere to our brand and contribute to one (or more) of our five content categories: Brand, Product, Revenue, Acquisition, Education. * Ensure the company’s voice is used consistently across all channels. * Cut the jargon! Find ways to make credit and finance easier to understand. * Work with our legal team to ensure content is compliant. * Discover and manage content partnerships. * Coordinate with our social and community team to maximize content promotion. * Learn the ins and outs of our in-house CMS and publish stories / refresh existing content. * Work with our design team to create educational, compelling (even fun!) graphics to enhance content. * Pitch in with copy editing and proofreading from time to time. * You’ll get to work with a bunch of different teams and have your hand in a lot of different projects. * You’ll produce stories that have the potential to reach a wide audience either through social, syndication or both. * Our content helps people! Your stories will break down complex financial topics and news and make them accessible. * You’ll be on an awesome team of grammar nerds and word lovers. * And, of course, all those awesome company perks that you probably already read about.
Ideal Candidate
* 3- 5 years of writing experience in a fast-paced environment (extra points if you’ve worked in financial services) * A college degree that in some way relates to writing * The standards: attention to detail, motivation, good attitude * A strong grasp of English grammar that’s balanced by an even stronger grasp of how people actually talk (experience with AP a plus) * The ability to prioritize and then reprioritize as needs change
