Staff Data Engineer

Credit Karma is looking for an architect to be a part of our data engineering team. We’re working hard to bring credit knowledge to the masses and so people can figure out how to put their best financial foot forward. If you have a data background and are interested in turning an abundance of financial data into valuable insights for users, you might make a great fit for data engineering at Credit Karma.

* Own our data infrastructure. * Set technical strategic direction on data working with product, analytics, data science, infrastructure, and data engineering. * Contribute hands­-on with a highly ­talented team of data engineers. * Provide technical strategy and direction to the data engineering teams. **What’s great about it** * You’ll be knee deep in a good mission, helping people learn about credit. * You’ll be a critical path to many of our most important business initiatives. * You’ll be working with a very cool data set for a large user base. * And, of course, all those awesome company perks that you probably already read about.

* 8+ years of software engineering experience. * 3+ years in big data space. * You aspire to do something great and want to have huge impact. * You’re passionate at staying on the forefront of the big data community and implementing a modern stack. Our current stack includes Kafka, BigQuery, HDFS, and Spark among others. * Strong empathy while still being able to challenge that we are doing things right. * Willingness to lead initiatives and a catalyst for change throughout the whole organization. * Strong communication skills with engineers and non­-technical folks. * Experience setting technical strategy. * Experience delivering product in an agile environment. * You are happy to revolutionize the credit industry for the people.
