Summary
Credit Karma’s Infrastructure team is responsible for all aspects of infrastructure operations and maintaining the highest levels of uptime to support millions of users. Responsibilities include designing systems for high-availability, capacity, performance, scalability, and security, planning and executing multiple projects, and supporting 24/7/365 site operations. Our ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure performance engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys multitasking, and is able to work independently or as part of a project team. The main focus for this role is the infrastructure performance analysis and optimization, benchmarking, workload characterization, modeling and simulations.
Responsibilities
* Drive optimization, analysis and test automation for our core systems at the OS and hardware level. * Develop monitoring, reporting, and data mining tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis. * Provide deep visibility into infrastructure capacity and performance. * Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with operations (systems, database, storage) and engineering teams to discover resolutions. * Design, implement and lead performance measurement process, tools, environment and best practices. * Work closely with the operations teams to test and benchmark infrastructure performance and drive continuous improvement of performance testing coverage. Identify potential bottlenecks. * Analyze performance test results, publish metrics, and log defects; escalate defects as appropriate and drive to resolution. * Provide reporting of capacity and performance trends
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree required in Information Technology or equivalent. * Expert-level experience with Linux performance optimization, RHEL or CentOS preferred. Strong knowledge of datacenter based LAMP stack deployments. Experience with kernel tuning is a big plus. * Solid understanding of CPU, memory management and file system architectures. * Strong knowledge of datacenter network technologies and protocols * Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve infrastructure design and technical issues. * Experience in developing high quality performance test plan, load testing, performance analysis, and benchmarking. * Experience with monitoring tools: network simulators, load generators, profilers, monitors, analysis and reporting. * Ability to summarize and communicate metrics. * Strong communication and written skills.
