Summary
The Automation team at Counsyl is where the clinical lab, software engineering, assay development, and advanced robotics all come together to make something truly unique. They are tasked with designing, building and maintaining the most advanced clinical diagnostics laboratory platform in the world. As an Automation Service Engineer, you will be be responsible for keeping the platform in peak condition as it continues to expand in capabilities and capacity to meet the demands of the genomics revolution.
Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for uptime on a multi-million dollar pipeline through equipment maintenance, instrument qualification and rapid response to issuesInterface with CLIA lab personnel to troubleshoot problems and schedule work on instrumentation * Perform regular maintenance to keep robotics and instrumentation running in top shape * Work closely with automation engineers to define critical feature requests and potential improvements * Maintain the most advanced laboratory technology in molecular diagnostics * Develop, optimize and troubleshoot liquid handling processes on multiple instrument platforms * Help specify and support implementation of custom hardware and software solutions to continuously improve our lab platform (robots, gantries, PLCs, scheduling, tracking, safety, etc...) * Apply cutting edge technology to quite literally save lives
Ideal Candidate
* You should have experience servicing complex laboratory instrumentation and/or robotic hardware as displayed by prior employment. The following should also describe you: * You have 4+ years of experience repairing and/or maintaining laboratory or similar complexity instrumentation * You are punctual and can work a steady evening shift schedule (2pm-10pm) Required * You have the attentiveness and vigilance to maintain a complex suite of instrumentation and robotic equipment * You know when the solution to a problem is hardware, software, or chemistry * You recognize quickly when you see a superior solution and are not afraid to recommend changes * You work tirelessly to get things done right the first time * You are well organized and have an eye for detail * The prospect of a fully automated genome factory gets you excited * You want to learn everything you don’t yet know to perform optimally in a fast-paced environment
