Summary

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Director of Product Marketing with extensive knowledge of large storage systems and distributed file systems for our Data Management platform. The Director will leverage her/his product marketing experience, strong analytic skills and a keen understanding of the information management and governance market to develop and promote Commvault solutions for retaining, accessing and optimizing business critical information. This person will create, tell and evangelize the unstructured data management and information governance story to different audiences across business and IT functions. Technical understanding of how archiving and big data environment maps to market requirements is critical, as is the ability to create and communicate product key messages, value proposition, differentiation and benefits to different key personas while working with and influencing cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with product management, direct sales, channel sales, marcom, PR and services to define and execute a go-to-market strategy for Commvault’s data management solutions. * Engage with strategic alliance partners (in collaboration with internal alliances team) to develop compelling joint marketing solutions that build awareness, thought leadership and sales pipeline. * Enable success of direct and indirect sales teams via content, activities and enablement in deliverables such as positioning statements, key messages, real-world proof points/metrics/customer quotes, competitive rollups, web page content, price sheets, blogs/posts/tweets, case studies, e-books/white papers, training sessions and product demos. * Identify and monitor new market opportunities and provide supporting justification to pursue these opportunities. * Build rapport with and directly/actively influence the cross-functional (product management, sales, engineering, user experience) and co-marketing teams (direct marketing, partner marketing, PR, social media, events, web). * Understand the buyer selection/decision criteria and preferences via persona-driven methodologies. * Demonstrate a strategic and results-driven perspective for the brand and its products.
Ideal Candidate
* 10+ years of technology marketing experience, preferably in enterprise software product marketing. * Experience with marketing business-to-business and/or archiving products, targeting IT, application owner, compliance and enterprise audiences. * Bachelor’s degree in a marketing discipline, MBA, or Pragmatic Marketing certification. Technical background is a plus. * Strong ability to determine, communicate and evangelize strategies and vision. * Demonstrated flexibility to lead marketing strategy in a fast-paced, fluid, cross-functional, matrixed environment. * Technical understanding of email and file archive including storage management, retention and compliance. * Good knowledge of large scale storage systems such as Hadoop Distributed File System, Cassandra etc. * Knowledge of compliance and legal discovery topics including SEC/NASD, SOX, HIPAA, FOIA, FRCP, record keeping, security and other directives. * Excellent writing, organization and project management skills. * Position can be located in either San Jose, CA or Tinton Falls, NJ.
