Summary
The Analytics team is looking for an Analytics Senior Consultant to develop advanced statistical models to price specialty insurance policies. This person will work closely with both his analytics colleagues and business partners in actuarial, underwriting, claims and risk control to enable improved pricing.
Responsibilities
* Builds predictive models using statistical and machine learning applications to address business needs. * Develops methodologies, assumptions, quantifications, and computer programs for complex analyses. Includes designing and writing programs using a variety of programming languages and software tools. * Facilitates communication and provides technical guidance to business units and senior management regarding findings and recommendations. * Provides guidance to less experienced team members and may lead and/or participate in special projects.
Ideal Candidate
**Skills, Knowledge & Abilities** * Knowledge of statistical techniques involved in predictive modeling and machine learning is required. Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques is preferred. * Significant data science programming experience (e.g. R, SAS, Python) * Substantial experience with one of the following would be a big plus: * Distributed storage and processing environments, this experience could include working with Hadoop, Spark, Python, MapReduce and GitHub. * Bayesian Hierarchical Modeling * Web Scraping / APIs * Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners. * Knowledge of core functions of an insurance company and general insurance is preferred. * Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve complex situations and issues. * Solid project management, organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and lead teams. * Ability to exercise professional judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews. * Ability to solve issues with a sense of urgency; utilizes and manages the available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior results. * Ability to creatively and effectively manage through ambiguous and challenging problems, leads through change and takes appropriate level of risk. **Education & Experience** * Advanced Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, actuarial science or equivalent. * Typically a minimum of five years of related work experience.
