Summary
We are seeking an exceptional manager to lead the digital analytics for CBS News Digital, one of the flagship brands within CBS Digital Media group at CBSi. In this data heavy role, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about news and media, has strong analytical skills, and excels in a dynamic, fast paced environment. This unique role requires someone with the ability to deliver meaningful insights and strategic recommendations for our businesses, effectively lead projects and execute strategies to drive audience and revenue growth, as well as perform very hands-on technical analysis in support of our growing online news brand. This position will work closely with CBS News Digital leadership, product, and editorial teams as well as cross-functional teams within CBSi.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage a team of 1-3 Analysts, while serving as key advisor to the CBS News Digital organization. * Execute on data initiatives and lead data projects to better understand our audience, content and product offering across all platforms and business models. Leverage that data to grow the business, deliver personalized product and advertising experiences. * Formulate and perform in-depth statistical/quantitative analyses, data mining, mathematical modeling, experimentation (A/B and multivariate tests), optimization and predictive analytics. * Effectively communicate and ‘translate’ quantitative findings (storytelling with data), make and defend meaningful conclusions and recommendations to inform product decisions, identify and interpret trends and relationships to product and business stakeholders. * Build, improve, and maintain reports, dashboards, and tracking metrics to monitor the performance of our products. * Manage development of data resources, gather requirements, organize sources, and support product launches. * Foster effective business relationships with all internal and external partners, vendors and stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
* Required Skills/Experience Skills/Experiences: * Minimum Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field; Masters a plus. * 2+ years of direct management experience. * 5+ years of relevant working experience (in a similar role), preferably for an online news/media/publishing company. * Excellent statistical intuition, application, and knowledge of various analytical approaches * Extensive experience querying/mining large, complex, and raw data sets in Teradata/Hive/Hadoop databases. * Proficient in advanced SQL and with statistical software (preferably R). * Experience with video/web analytics and tools (Omniture, Tableau). * Ability to operate independently, prioritize/manage multiple and time sensitive projects simultaneously, and adapt to change in a fast-paced news environment. * Must be detail-oriented and focused on data accuracy. * Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to create and deliver findings, presentations and reports to senior management. * Build strong working relationships with coworkers, customers, and company management. * Must successfully pass a background check * In addition, CBS will be guided by applicable federal, state and local laws when considering for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories.
