Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Portfolio Accountant for managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of real estate investments. This is a non-supervisory, full-time position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The primary responsibilities are described below.

  • Perform accounting functions for a real estate co-mingled equity and debt fund and/or a separate account client holding several wholly-owned and joint venture investments including multi-family, retail, mixed-use, hotel, and development.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports and supplemental schedules for investors, utilizing Fair Value Accounting.
  • Monitor daily fund-level cash activity, including wire processing, accounts payable and deposits.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for fund-level accounts.
  • Coordinate and review monthly property management reports and upload activity to Fund’s accounting software, Yardi.
  • Calculate performance returns in accordance with current industry standards.
  • Calculate internal rates of return for both fund-level and asset-level.
  • Assist with quarterly updates to Fund’s financial forecast model.
  • Prepare distribution calculations, sources/uses of cash, allocations, and investor notices
  • Interact with investors’ consultants to provide requested investment analysis.
  • Assist with various special projects.
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent education
  • 5-10 years of previous experience
  • Prior real estate experience required
  • Familiarity with Yardi accounting software is a big plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Solid organization skills with ability to work effectively independently and with other team members
