Senior Data Engineer

Capital One Financial Corporation, incorporated in July 21, 1994, is a diversified banking company focused primarily on consumer and commercial lending and deposit origination. Its principal business segments are Local Banking and National Lending.

As a Capital One Sr.Data Engineer, you'd be part of an Agile or platform team dedicated to breaking the norm and pushing the limits of continuous improvement and innovation. You'd participate in detailed technical design, development and implementation of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. Working within an Agile environment, you'd provide input into architectural design decisions, develop code to meet story acceptance criteria, and ensure that the applications we build are always available to our customers. You'd have the opportunity to mentor other engineers and develop your technical knowledge and skills to keep your mind and our business on the cutting edge of technology.

• Understands complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline or relevant military experience

• 3+ years in coding in data management, data warehousing or unstructured data environments or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related discipline.

• Building skills with leading big and fast data technologies like Spark, Scala, Akka, Cassandra, Accumulo, Hbase, Hadoop, HDFS, AVRO, MongoDB, Mesos

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree

• Proven knowledge and experience in relevant data technologies and

languages

• Experience with recognized industry patterns, methodologies, and techniques

• Familiarity with Agile engineering practices

• 1+ years of experience with Spark, Scala and/or Akka.

• 1+ years of experience with Spark Streaming, Storm, Flink, or other Stream

Processing technologies.

• 3+ years in-depth experience with the Hadoop stack (MapReduce, Pig, Hive,

Hbase)

• 3+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra, etc.

a plus)

• 3+ years of experience developing Java based software solutions
