Data Scientist I

Assists in the development of processes to analyze high volume, diverse "big data" sources using advanced mathematical, statistical, querying, and reporting methods. Uses predictive analytics techniques and inductive statistical analysis to predict outcomes and behaviors. May interact with business partners to identify questions for data analysis and experiments. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; may assist to interpret and/or communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to business partners. Effectively uses current and emerging technologies to create machine intelligence models.

This position would be a part of our Big Data and Advanced Analytics team, helping Sprint build out a world class Enterprise Data Lake and Customer 360 on Hadoop, enable real time streaming analytics, and help construct our advanced analytics platforms. This position will be a key contributor to Sprint's Digital Customer Analytics and Digital Transformation.

**Basic Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree or four years related work experience post high school * Preferred Qualifications * Master's Degree in Math, Statistics or related field * One year experience working with R, Java, Python, SAS, SPSS or other predictive modeling tools * One year experience working with Hadoop, a NoSQL Database or other big data infrastructure * Experience working in a Hadoop Ecosystem * Hortonworks or Cloudera experience preferred * Experience with Streaming Analytics * Spark Streaming * Kafka/Storm/Flume * Experience with Open Source Programming * Scala/Spark, Map Reduce, Tez, PIG, R, Python, Java, C++ * Experience with Hadoop System Administration and Architecture (Ambari, Zookeeper, Ranger, SmartSense) * Experience with HDFS, HIVE and NoSQL DB (Hbase, MongoDB) * Experience with Visualizations on Hadoop (R Shiny, Zeppelin, iPython, Microstrategy, Tableau) * Experience with Analytics on Hadoop (Aster, Alteryx, R, Python) * Experience working with high volume, high velocity data * Must have great communication skills * Must have great presentation skills * Must be able to work with little direction or with vague direction * Must be a 'hacker' and have a hacker mentality * Experience within Telco a Plus * Experience within Digital a Plus * Must have strong Business Acumen
