Summary
Responsible for all aspects of Cabela’s Branded Products for assigned product categories from concept to commercialization in accordance with the Product Development Calendar. This position is ultimately accountable for overseeing the conceptualization and product line strategy which drives the design, materials, construction, marketing, and sourcing of Cabela’s Brand Products. Cabela’s has an opening for a Product Line Manager in the Product Development Hardgoods Department at our corporate office in Sidney, NE.
Responsibilities
* Lead efforts with marketing to conduct overall industry analysis, market research, and consumer research * Lead competitive analysis for division, maintain awareness of trends and competition and apply to product line strategy for Cabela’s Brand Products * Provides strategic guidance to evolve the assortment strategy to match business growth goals and objectives. Evaluate and build toward opportunities, while maintaining current business. * Communicate the assortment strategy during concept, design and development steps * Owner of Product Development Milestone Meetings, which provide updates on product line strategy, progress of product development, timely leadership approvals. * Defines and communicates each attendee’s role and responsibilities in Milestone Meetings. This includes: CM’s, designers, sourcing, marketing, visual merchandising, materials, planning & inventory, quality control, and production planning * Presentation during Milestone Meetings in an effective way. * Responsible for meeting recap and action plan to address outstanding issues. * Drives Field Testing of CBP products to guarantee product quality and customer satisfaction. * Identification of Field Test styles * Manages product development calendar to adjust for Field Testing needs * Define Field testing needs: * Testers by activity * Region * Seasonal timing * Coordinate Field Testing samples with sourcing team * Analyze Field Tester feedback and make adjustments to Cabela’s Brand products as needed. * Communicate feedback and changes to Merchandising Teams. * Primary resource to Marketing in the development of packaging, branding and advertising collateral of Cabela’s Branded Products. * Build product briefs on all Cabela’s Brand Products which provide positioning statements, competitive landscape and product details. * Provide assortment, product and technical information for the development of Outfitter training. * Provide assistance to the Marketing Team in the development of appropriate collateral with input on key concept development * Drive the development of hangtags, packaging and other marketing assets. * Responsible for the execution of product development through the entire product development pipeline. This includes: * Management of each product development step to ensure calendar deadlines are met * Primary interface with Design, Product Development and Sourcing * Demonstrate clear understanding of costing details (fabric, trim, CM), ensuring thoughtful decision making on product attributes to achieve margin goals * Demonstrate good aesthetic judgement, brand understanding, and functional end use when developing the product line * When calendar deadlines are not met, responsible for developing alternative solutions to guarantee product intent and delivery are met * Provide status updates to CM’s, Merchant and Product Development Leadership. * Provide clear, comprehensive product information to Merchandising and Marketing team to drive sales and margin * Travel to Strategic Suppliers, Trade Shows, Competitive Shopping, Retail stores, Factories and Mills.
