About Bounce Exchange
Bounce Exchange is bad ass. Computer World ranked us as the #1 tech company to work for in the United States in terms of employee retention and career development. Crain's and Internet Week agreed and ranked us in their respective groups of the top places to work for in NYC.
Summary
We are looking to add a special type of engineer to our team – we need someone to hack our office. This person is not going to spend his or her day restarting computers or juggling blue screens of death, instead they’ll make software that does it for them (all of us). Our Office Hacker (IT Engineer) will manage and maintain the internal infrastructure and services that power our team. Devops but with a human touch. The ideal candidate has configured networks and built computers but is also not interested in returning to a life that is free of automation and tooling. This is not an on-call position, but we do expect you to take ownership for these responsibilities. We are looking for someone who will hit the ground running and make immediate contributions from prior experience. You can probably overcome any technical challenge without breaking a sweat. But, if you do break a sweat, it’s cool, we have cold brew on tap.
Responsibilities
* This role involves building out systems that will make our team run smoothly * Test automation, security verification, and continuous performance monitoring * Automate recurring tasks and innovate our existing processes * Own inventory management, set up new workstations/laptops for employees * Manage software versioning and installation (automatic upgrades) * Hack our automated lighting system * Hack our mechanized window-shade system * Diagnose and resolve hardware and network issues * Monitor office network and firewall bandwidth/capacity * Build a system to support office continuity (backup, restore, disaster recovery) * Monitor backup systems and procedures to ensure data security and durability * Keep an accurate record of problems and solutions for future reference * Gather necessary data for issue replication, problem determination, and escalation
Ideal Candidate
* BA/BS degree or equivalent real-world experience (the latter is preferred) * Ideal candidates will have backgrounds with a mix of system administration, prototyping engineer, and/or developer operations * Eagerness to proactively engage in continuous process improvement * Natural planner & problem solver with a strong attention to detail
