Summary
The Investment Associate plays an integral role in support of Private Bank sales and client management professionals (e.g Client Advisors, Investment Strategists, Fiduciary Investment Officers) in their efforts to retain, grow and win business in a very competitive landscape. Specifically, the IA is accountable for performing analysis, identifying best ideas from a multitude of complex data, investment vehicles and scenarios, and developing investment and sales strategies for the sales and client professionals. This includes creating, developing or analyzing the materials that the sales and client professionals will use in the proposals to prospective clients. Additionally, the IA may be responsible for the asset management of assigned client portfolios. Specifically, the position establishes responsibility for implementing asset allocation, reviewing assets, and ultimately executes or implementing investment strategies with moderate oversight from Investment Strategists, Fiduciary Investment Officers and Client Advisors.
Responsibilities
* Performs complex portfolio analysis, develops the sales strategy by synthesizing the data and investment options; prepares proposal materials which sales professionals use to win new client business. * With moderate supervision from sales professional, establishes asset allocation for client portfolios, reviews assets and executes investment strategy. Assists in the implementation of strategies to ensure adherence to investment objectives and maximize investment returns within corporate guidelines. Manages customer accounts in compliance within legal, statutory, and customer guidelines. * Proactively communicates with Investment Strategists, Fiduciary Investment Officers and Client Advisors about their accounts, securities markets, and economic events, including the reporting of investment activity and performance. * Keeps abreast of legal and tax consequences of investment decisions and strategies. Reviews accounts and assets regularly; Completes Reg 9 reviews for assigned accounts. * Studies research to keep abreast of current trends in portfolio management. Keeps informed of developments in the capital markets. * Initiates action to affect required purchases and sales of securities; executes discretionary security trades.
Ideal Candidate
* Knowledge of various securities and investment-related products and services i.e. domestic stocks, taxable bonds, tax free bonds, mutual funds, and international stocks * Demonstrated ability to understand complex financial transactions; including the ability to think logically and effectively assimilate meaningful information and form sales strategies from large amounts of data. * Ability to prepare client and new business presentation material, including strong working knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software * Outstanding oral, written and visual communication skills, including interpersonal skills * Exceptional presentation skills required. * This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business; Master’s degree in Business preferred and 4 - 6 years related experience or 10+ years equivalent experience in financial markets.
