Senior Product Designer

Betterment is a smart automated investing service that provides optimized investment returns for individual, IRA, ROTH IRA, and rollover 401(k) accounts. Its technology enables users to manage their investments in a customized, diversified portfolio. Charging a management fee of 0.25%, the company’s mobile app enables users to access, view, share, and review their portfolio’s activities as well as deposit and withdraw money from anywhere, anytime.

You are passionate about creating great user experiences on everything from the web to mobile devices. You look at the world around you, and see opportunities to improve the design and experience of everything. * Design the user experience from concept through production for products and features * Create user flows, information architecture, interaction models, wireframes, and high fidelity prototypes * Synthesize competitor offerings, customer feedback, site metrics and usability reports into user-centered designs * Iterate rapidly and work collaboratively with product managers, developers, and designers

Successful candidates will have: * A minimum of 7 years experience in product development teams working on user experience/interaction design * A strong portfolio of work that demonstrates advanced skills in web and mobile user experience design * Knowledge of how to best design to solve business and user problems through a keen understanding of customer needs * Passion about what you do and an obsession with staying on top of UX / UI trends and tools * Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken * HTML and CSS skills * Experience with Git or other version control system * Knowledge of responsive design techniques * Experience in user research and usability testing * Work onsite at our NYC HQ **Nice-to-haves** * HTML email experience * Experience implementing data visualizations * You’re familiar with [Brad Frost’s work](http://bradfrost.com/blog/post/frontend-design/). * SASS, D3, CSS animations, client side javascript
