Betterment is a smart automated investing service that provides optimized investment returns for individual, IRA, ROTH IRA, and rollover 401(k) accounts. Its technology enables users to manage their investments in a customized, diversified portfolio. Charging a management fee of 0.25%, the company’s mobile app enables users to access, view, share, and review their portfolio’s activities as well as deposit and withdraw money from anywhere, anytime.

Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with the product management and engineering teams to constantly iterate on, improve, and automate our core processes. Find a more efficient way and make it happen
  • Scale the team: continually monitor operational capacity and drive hiring plan
  • Define and standardize manual processes in support of new product offerings
  • Oversee the team to ensure all daily activities are completed:
  • Reconciliations: make sure all the cash and ETFs are in the right place
  • KYC, AML, SAR: keep out the bad guys and prevent fraud
  • Rollovers: keep the money rolling in (and out)
  • Be the ultimate point of escalation for all brokerage related issues; be ready for any question, and be able to figure out anything you don’t know
  • Know our business inside and out, and be able to explain it to regulators and auditors
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, economics, or related field
  • A passion for investing and a broad knowledge of the securities industry
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience
  • Ability to draft clear policies and procedures, and apply these to a growing team
  • A healthy obsession with compliance
  • Analytical prowess / Excel skills / exceedingly sharp with numbers
  • Ability to work across disciplines to generate new processes and/or resolve issues
  • A self-starter with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
