Responsibilities
* Work closely with product, engineering, and the lines of business to navigate regulatory and compliance requirements, customer agreements, filings, operations and related matters * Manage interactions with FINRA, SEC, and other regulatory bodies, including written communications * Assist with the development of new lines of business and products and draft associated agreements * Analyze and provide guidance to the company on evolving rules, regulations, and trends impacting the financial advisory * Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary
Ideal Candidate
**You Will Be Effective If You Have:** * An attorney with a JD, admission to a state bar, and at least 4 years of relevant in-house or firm experience * Experience with the rules and regulations governing investment advisors and broker-dealers * Excellent writer (We will ask for writing samples) * Flexible and eager to work hard in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines * Passion for Betterment’s mission **Bonus Points If You Have:** * Experience with privacy, data security, and intellectual property matters * In-house experience at a start up or high growth company * Knowledge of ERISA and related regulations
