Charging a management fee of 0.25%, the company’s mobile app enables users to access, view, share, and review their portfolio’s activities as well as deposit and withdraw money from anywhere, anytime.

You are an outstanding attorney looking to join a fast-growing start up. You are a problem solver with excellent legal judgment and outstanding attention to detail, and want to put your skills to use by helping Betterment build and grow efficient and scalable processes. Our ideal candidate is mission-driven, exhibits ownership of their subject matter, is quick to learn, and independent.

* Work closely with product, engineering, and the lines of business to navigate regulatory and compliance requirements, customer agreements, filings, operations and related matters * Manage interactions with FINRA, SEC, and other regulatory bodies, including written communications * Assist with the development of new lines of business and products and draft associated agreements * Analyze and provide guidance to the company on evolving rules, regulations, and trends impacting the financial advisory * Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary

**You Will Be Effective If You Have:** * An attorney with a JD, admission to a state bar, and at least 4 years of relevant in-house or firm experience * Experience with the rules and regulations governing investment advisors and broker-dealers * Excellent writer (We will ask for writing samples) * Flexible and eager to work hard in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines * Passion for Betterment’s mission **Bonus Points If You Have:** * Experience with privacy, data security, and intellectual property matters * In-house experience at a start up or high growth company * Knowledge of ERISA and related regulations
