Summary
You are a personal finance expert, and are passionate about using your knowledge to find solutions to customers’ financial problems. You think of these solutions in ways that can be codified and leveraged to help thousands of others. You are adept at communicating with customers via phone, email or even in person—always striving to delight. You can clearly communicate in writing as well, explaining technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way. You know the ins-and-outs of financial accounts and tools available to consumers today, and can weave them into creative solutions to financial needs, and can work with a product team to bring your ideas to life.
Responsibilities
* Help define product initiatives involving financial advice models that will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of people * Assist in reviewing and vetting our financial planning models and advice * Write and provide technical review on planning-focused articles for our resource pages * (Depending on interest) speak at conferences / panels about Betterment’s philosophy and Retail and Institutional products * Be our in-house go-to financial planning expert - handle advanced financial questions, consult via phone with higher balance customers, including helping define goals and assessing how Betterment and it’s features can best fit into their financial planning picture
Ideal Candidate
* CFP® or equivalent knowledge and experience (especially working knowledge of IRAs, typical investment and personal tax issues, investing and asset allocation principles) * A minimum of 5 years of experience giving holistic financial advice to clients (i.e. planning advice beyond investment advice) * Exceptional verbal and written communicator * Experience working with product and engineering teams who build financial software * Very comfortable applying math and statistics used in typical financial planning calculations * Interest in working in a fast-paced startup environment
