Summary

We are searching for a Corporate Financial Analyst who is a self starter, assertive, confident, and enthusiastic to be part of our Venture Investments team in our New York City office.

Under the general direction of the Berkshire Investment Team, the Corporate Financial Analyst will own and drive the development, maintenance, updating and analysis of various comprehensive financial models and supporting analysis, prepare requested financial reports for platform investments and/or business entities and assist in special projects as directed. Assist with strategic planning and preparation of investor reporting materials.

Responsibilities
  • Review financials for prospective platform investments including analysis of historical and projected corporate level income and expenses
  • Develop, maintain, update and analyze comprehensive financial models, integrating both historical, current and pro forma information; work closely with various levels of the organization to effectively identify and address business issues through models and presentations, and prepare for ad hock and regular meetings.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various business drivers of platform sectors and apply that knowledge in developing, maintaining and analyzing financial models.
  • Maintain the organization's historical track record integrating historical and liquidation values on a quarterly basis
  • Maintain valuation models for platform investments on a quarterly basis
  • Prepare acquisition and disposition fund and investment analysis
  • Master existing company technology and assist in identifying, evaluating and implementing new technology tools to enhance the modeling, analysis and reporting of financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages for platform investments.
  • General support in preparation of quarterly consolidated investor report
  • Prepare and coordinate the annual budget process for platform investments.
  • Participate in the forecasting and acquisition processes as requested and update models, as necessary.
  • Review capital call requests and supporting documentation
  • Review financials received from platform investments to ensure proper accounting and monitor capital account balances and invested equity relative to approved equity levels and corporate budgets
  • Reconcile platform provided capital accounts versus internally maintained capital schedules
  • Implement additional procedures with platform level finance team including oversight of audit process and integration in company accounting systems
  • Special projects

Facilitation Responsibilites

  • Coordinate the reconciliation of various subsidiary entities into master models.

Meetings and Conference Calls

  • Participate in Portfolio Performance Reporting and Portfolio Management meetings.
  • Participate in financial meetings and conference calls.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned.
Ideal Candidate

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of corporate financial analysis and modeling experience
  • Must have superior financial modeling and Excel skills
  • Real estate investment industry experience is preferred
  • Multifamily experience is preferred
  • Solid understanding of accounting and finance is required
  • Understanding Sarbanes Oxley process and rules
  • Ability to produce excellent quality work that is thorough, accurate, complete, consistent, and able to get information when requested
  • Has excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  • Works independently and with others; has complete ownership of work and projects
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills

Technical/ Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree required with outstanding academic credentials
  • Graduate degree in finance or MBA a plus
  • Strong computer skills; experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft
