Summary
Bankrate is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development who will work closely with a dedicated, fun group and will be highly influential to the growth of our organization. This is a role with lots of potential and requires someone with 6+ years of online publishing, publishing technology, lead generation and/or audience acquisition business development and/or partnership management experience. You will be focused on helping us to increase Bankrate’s Partner Network revenue by identifying, pitching, closing and managing a growing pipeline of new partners in the personal finance, financial news, lead generation and direct marketing verticals. Bankrate’s industry-leading Partner Network comprises over 100 sites, including some of the top digital media and lead generation brands, who publish Bankrate’s mortgage, banking, auto loan and credit card rate tables to generate paid quality leads for our advertisers. Partners also republish Bankrate’s personal finance content, driving additional paid leads for and referral traffic to Bankrate.com.
Responsibilities
* Ramp up our partner deal pipeline, close and launch new partners in a data-driven and results-oriented environment * Manage a growing roster of existing partners, increase revenue generation, share constant data and feedback to optimize performance, understand partners’ needs/challenges, demonstrate how Bankrate’s monetization solutions can help them to achieve their goals and articulate Bankrate’s value proposition and points of differentiation with that of our competitors * Negotiate partnership agreements, working with legal, product, development, vertical GMs, data/analytics and other teams, as needed * Translate raw data into meaningful and actionable insights that drive partner growth in lead revenue, volume and quality * Identify opportunities to improve the performance of our Partner Network products, as well as to provide input on new products, based on partner feedback and assessing our competitors’ offerings * Partner with appropriate teams, including product, developers, data/analytics, performance marketing, vertical GMs, legal, editorial and marketing, to assess partnership opportunities, negotiate agreements, launch partners and optimize performance
Ideal Candidate
* 6+ years of relevant online publishing, publishing technology, lead generation and/or audience acquisition experience with an emphasis on expanding deal pipeline, closing and launching new partners, growing revenue, managing partner relationships and optimizing performance via data insights and testing * Experience meeting and exceeding deal pipeline and revenue growth targets * Solid knowledge of the financial publishing and lead generation marketplace, as well as of industry trends and competitive dynamics * Prior experience doing business development and/or partnership management at a media company, direct marketing and/or lead generation publisher is highly preferred * Comfortable using Salesforce, Google Analytics, Tableau and/or Looker * Strong proficiency with Excel and Power Point * Ability to create and present partner updates in a professional and detail-oriented manner * Experience working with creative, technical and business intelligence teams ensuring projects are completed to specific requirements and on time * Passionate about helping to grow an iconic digital media and direct marketing brand
