Summary
BAE Systems in looking for a Control Systems Engineer to provide Control System design, integration, test, and maintenance for multiple Weapon Systems programs. The Control Systems Engineer will perform hands-on integration and test of control systems hardware and software. This position requires excellent mechanical andelectrical aptitude, experience with Control System design, Matlaband Simulink development tools, embedded software and autocode generation.
Responsibilities
Creates, plans, and performs engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test, and/or product assurance tasks of moderate complexity for assigned portions of a project. Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements. Applies engineering design and/or analytical theory, principles, techniques and practices to a portion of a technical project. Applies basic knowledge of the design of organization's products and technology to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems. Selects the best method or process from among several existing alternatives. Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. May deliver technical presentations. Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and/or by computer programs. Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements. Provides input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets. Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems of moderate complexity. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. May direct the work of less senior technical personnel. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies and rules. Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Education and Experience:** Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience **Required Skills and Education:** * Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or Master's Degree and 0 years experience. Minimum 3.0 GPA. * Coursework and/or experience in System Dynamics and Classical, Modern and Digital Controls * Requires experience with Servo Control design and Matlab Simulink * Familiarization with brushless DC motors and power electronics * Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude * Experience with autocode generation **Preferred Skills and Education:** * Ability to develop plant models representing systems to be controlled * Knowledge of system engineering principles, requirements management, System Design & Analysis techniques * Knowledge of state machines, frequency and time domain methods and analysis * Stateflow development tools, embedded software and autocode generation * Requirements development and Interface management * Support to requirements verification, test and analysis * Labview Realtime and VeriStand tools * Exposure to advanced control topics; state-space methods, optimal and robust controls, MIMO systems * M.S. degree preferred * GPA of 3.25 or higher preferred * Prefer engineering experience with relevant applications in a defense environment * Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards * Cover letter detailing required experience preferred
