Product Owner

Appian is leading the way building the next generation Platform as a Service (PaaS) and needs a Product Owner/Manager with a passion for creating technology that scales to support the mission critical demands of our growing customer base. As a Product Manager, you will work as an embedded product owner on a Squad team of 5-10 technical staff and interact with key business stakeholders up to and including CxO-level. You will own and closely manage the prioritized product backlog and ensure that your Squad team delivers high-quality software with each and every iteration. You must have relevant experience defining software requirements and working with teams to deliver software projects with aggressive deadlines. You must be an exceptional negotiator, organizer and writer. You demonstrate an ability to empathize with both stakeholders and end users and make the right compromises to deliver value to both constituents in the face of technical, resource, and time constraints. Most importantly, you have a passion for software!

* Gather requirements from stakeholders and work with the team to flesh out scope and design implications of planned work * Passionate about writing Agile User Stories for assigned software product * Schedule and hold story grooming sessions with the development team, and ensure an understanding of the user stories that will result in a complete implementation of the story during the sprint * You are exceptionally imaginative, collaborative, and truly excited about building great products and experiences * Attend all Squad meetings, including daily standup, story grooming, sprint planning and retrospectives

**Minimum Qualifications:** * 3+ years experience managing software products in an enterprise software or PaaS environment * Demonstrated experience writing user stories or software requirement specifications * Strong oral, written, and presentation skills * You are exceptionally imaginative, collaborative, and truly excited about building great products and experiences * Strong interpersonal skills to manage across team boundaries and drive organizational improvements * Bachelors in Engineering (BS in Computer Science or related field/degree) **Preferred Qualifications:** * Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification * Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment * Direct experience as a Product Owner, or otherwise writing user stories for a Squad team
