Sustainable Software Engineer

We're looking for Sustainable Software Engineer to build internal tools and features for the Appboy platform. In addition, this role will also require the candidate to be the technical escalation for our success team when needed. This role is a software engineering role, as this person will also be responsible for programming on the Appboy dashboard or backend, helping out the mobile team, and working on minor infrastructure projects. One day you may be building internal tools to help our success and support organizations with automating a workflow, and the next day building new features to be used by thousands of Appboy customers. Sustainable Software Engineers may be required to split on-call responsibilities with other team members, though after-hours support is uncommon. Proficient Support Engineers have the opportunity to grow into full-time backend software engineers on the Appboy platform. We are not interested in recent coding school graduates at this time, please do not apply if you recently graduated from schools such as General Assembly or App Academy.

- Become an expert in how our product works from a technical standpoint - Be the technical point of contact for customer issues from Appboy’s customer success organization - Add new features and fix customer-facing bugs - Build or buy new support tools to help automate common tasks and challenges

- Degree in computer science or equivalent experience - Working knowledge of some dynamic language (it doesn’t have to be Ruby) - At least 1 year of previous experience developing software, fantastic debugging skills - Excellent communication skills - Experience in a technical support role/ developer role **Pluses:** - +Proficiency using Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Redis and Hadoop - +Experience with mobile - +Have previously worked in a start up
