Summary
AOL incurs a variety of expenses through its core business and it is the responsibility of the Expense Accounting Group to ensure material accuracy and perform detailed analysis of the company’s financial position from a cost perspective. The Expense accounting team is responsible for all Cost of Revenue (COR) and General & Administrative (G&A) costs. The Staff Accountant will be able to handle all the complexities and responsibilities that come along with the monthly close process, including posting journal entries, month-end reporting and analysis, and account reconciliations.
Responsibilities
* Calculate monthly expense accruals and prepare journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts that are complex in nature, * Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, * Review and interpret expense contracts, * Provide monthly, quarterly and YTD variance analysis (reviews transactions, collects and evaluates data, conducts analysis, and prepares reports) for your respective accounts, * Work closely with key Finance and Business personnel, * Assist to respond to internal and external audit requests, and * Assist with any ad hoc requests.
Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience:** * Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance or related field is required, * Advanced computer/excel skills, * Min 2 years of previous experience in the accounting field, and * CPA or CPA candidate preferred. **Financial Systems Knowledge:** **The following experience is not required but is preferred:** * SAP, and/or * Hyperion/HFM. **Key Competencies** * Attention to detail and accuracy, * Strong organizational and analytical skills, * Strong problem-solving skills, * Ability to work under tight deadlines during accounting close cycles, * Ability to prioritize work, * Strong written and oral communication skills, * Team player, * Highly motivated, and * Can work well with others in the organization.
