Summary
Manage the strategic sourcing of dairy products: Milk, Cheese and Dairy related ingredients. Develop suppliers qualifying and ensuring ongoing quality supply of dairy ingredients into Amy’s plants. Responsibilities
* Maintain a steady source of supply of high quality dairy ingredients that meet specifications and flavor profiles required for Amy’s products. * Identify and implement cost reductions in the dairy supply chain ensuring that quality is maintained or improved in the process. * Identify opportunities to improve our inbound supply chain by recommending new procurement or receiving strategies. Foresee short and long-term shortages and react accordingly to ensure supply. * Work with Materials Planning to facilitate the smooth flow of dairy materials from the supplier into Amy’s plants. * Lead the Dairy Commodity Team to ensure proper communication and documentation related to raw materials purchased, received and processed into the MRP system on a timely basis. (I.e. Contracts, Supplier Docs, Dairy Docs, etc.) * Resolve quality issues with Supplier Quality, Sensory and Plant QA with agreed upon disposition on a timely basis * Develop relationships with new and emerging regional, national and some international dairy processors who are capable of providing consistent quality at a fair price. * Develop, Recommend and Implement sourcing strategies for processed materials to support the long term growth of the company using strategic sourcing methodologies. * Negotiate with processors on single and multiyear written contracts. * Work with suppliers and logistics to facilitate transport timing to the plant or processor. * Communicate regularly with QA dept and other departments to resolve quality and production issues. * Coach, Mentor, Lead, other employees in the department. * Other duties as assigned. **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Responsible for supervising Dairy Buyer and as needed coordinators or interns.
Ideal Candidate
* Degree in Business, Manufacturing Engineering, Agribusiness, Food or Dairy Science. * Must have at least 10 years experience in Purchasing and/or Dairy Manufacturing management including supervising employees. * Additional experience in manufacturing, planning, inventory control, quality control standards for Raw and /or Packaging materials and experience negotiating high level multiyear agreements. * Experience in organic dairy practices preferred.
