Summary
The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional Association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual. As part of the AMA’s IT Infrastructure team, the IT Desktop Architect will be responsible for the design, architecture and oversight of the desktop operating system and maintaining workstation hardware and software standards across all corporate client machines. The Desktop Architect will also provide technical and strategic leadership for the planning, design, and transition of the end device environment.
Responsibilities
* Design, create, and maintain workstations and the personal productivity application platform (including the application deployment process). Provide leadership in the planning, design and review and plan the direction of emerging/innovative technologies for end user computing. * Contribute in the development up of long-range plans including developing technical standards, identifying and evaluating workstation technologies, recommending new products, creating workstation roadmap and strategies, and ensuring alignment with IT Security roadmap. * Provide 3rd level client support in the deployment of applications * Create and maintain technical and operational management documentation.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, or Information Technology preferred. * Advanced knowledge of current industry protocols, standards/ best practices and technologies for end device management including mobility. * Minimum 3 years of experience in developing strategy for desktop environments. * Minimum 3 years of experience developing enterprise level workstation images. * Minimum 5 years of experience installing, configuring, automating, and managing Windows Operating Systems (XP, 7, 8, and/or 10), Microsoft Office Suite (2007, 2013 and/or 365), and Internet Explorer 11. * Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and enabling configuration management with Group Policy Objects (GPO) as they relate to the desktop. * Strong experience with scripting technologies such as VBScript, PowerShell or AutoIT Script. * Demonstrated experience in Client Lifecycle management tools (i.e. Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Symantec Altiris, or Landesk) with application packaging, asset reporting, and patch management. * Strong experience in virtualization of desktops (i.e. VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop, Microsoft RDS) and virtualization of applications (i.e. VMware ThinApp, Citrix XenApp, MS App-V).
