Retail Banking Associate

American Chartered Bank has been locally owned and operated since 1987. We are a full-service commercial and retail bank, serving privately owned small- and medium-sized businesses and individual clients throughout the Chicagoland area.

The Retail Banking Associate's primary goal is the fostering and maintaining of relationships through assessing needs of new and prospective clients, offering the best product and service options to meet those needs, and continuing to culminate these relationships through the delivery of outstanding service (accurate, timely, friendly).

* Provide exceptional service to clients, whether in person, over the phone or via email, by anticipating issues, listening to client’s needs and communicating effectively to resolve client issues, and provide the best ACB products and services that will meet the client’s needs. Always placing client needs first, escalating issues to assist client in reaching goals, and doing so in a manner that is friendly and professional, accurate and responsive, and with a sense of urgency and willingness. * Provides services of opening and maintaining accounts, stop payments, account transfers, ACH transactions, check orders, wire transfers, issuance of debit cards, debit card claims and disputes, consumer loans, loan draws and pay downs. * Actively grow and strengthen customer relationships by staying in touch with clients' needs, and following up appropriately to continue to modify and update the client profile, and offering and educating on the appropriate products and services to meet client needs and goals. Examples of this activity include scheduled follow-up after a new product is ordered or implement, or dedicated calling initiatives to check in with clients as part of managing the relationship. * Provide guidance and support to Tellers and other Retail staff in the referral and sales initiatives of the branch, such as product education, sales opportunity identification, and coaching on sales discussions. * Develop and maintain knowledge of consumer loan products, and liaise with Bank clients and the Consumer Loan group from application, to processing and underwriting, to closing and servicing the loan. * Ensure all operational, security and regulatory policies and procedures are followed in all aspects of the role; balance customer satisfaction with operational and regulatory effectiveness. * Cross-train in teller duties to assist with any period of high volume and for dual control activities as needed; assist Branch Manager with any initiatives related to growing the branch, community outreach, audit readiness, and branch presentation.

* A two-year degree in a business-related course of study; * At least two years of teller, customer service and sales experience is required; prior retail banking experience is desired. * Candidates must display a strong commitment to client servicing, through the delivery of the right products and services to the client, in an accurate, friendly and responsive manner, and with follow-up to ensure their satisfaction. * The ability to communicate orally and in writing in an articulate, professional and clear manner is required. * Adept at sales - assessing needs through asking probing questions and making conversation, offering products and services, following up. * Excellent decision-making and problem solving abilities, balancing the satisfaction of the client with safe and sound banking practices. * Understanding of the banking regulatory environment, and the ability to apply those in various situations. * Solid organizational and time management skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS Office products, and Internet browsers.
