Senior Director, Major Gifts

Together with our millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society (ACS) saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

The American Cancer Society is embarking on a mission to expand its major gifts fundraising program. In so doing, we are looking for seasoned, effective major gifts fundraisers who understand the importance of building relationships with volunteers, board members, corporate representatives, foundations, and current and prospective donors, and who are comfortable in soliciting 6, 7 and 8 figure gifts from those individuals.

• Build relationships with volunteers, board members, corporate representatives, foundations and current and prospective donors with a capacity to support the American Cancer Society mission with gifts of $1 million or more.
• Work with department leaders to develop, expand and refine case for support, supporting materials and strategy for use not only with national proposals but also used by major gift officers in the field.
• Coordinate department leadership to support overall program fundraising goals
• Secure a minimum of $2,000,000+ in major gifts in first year.
• Hold a minimum of 125 face-to-face visits with major gift prospects.
• Submit a minimum of 50 individual, corporate and foundation proposals in a balanced portfolio department fundraising goal.
• Supporting the effective development of campaign packaging, pricing, and lead gifts for field staff proposals.
• Coordinate the stewardship of $1million + donors who make gift to ACS.

• To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and a 5+ year proven track record of securing $100,000+ gifts or equivalent experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as is computer proficiency.
• Regular Travel also required.
