Summary
Altarum Institute’s Center for Food and Nutrition (CFAN) is seeking a Food and Nutrition Analyst to support multiple projects aimed at strengthening food assistance and nutrition education programs, and promoting healthy eating and activity behaviors for optimal nutrition and health of various population groups. CFAN projects include national studies of federal food assistance and nutrition programs including WIC and SNAP-Education, nutrition program assessment and evaluation projects for state government and non-profit organizations, and training and technical assistance for nutrition program administrators and staff. The Food and Nutrition Analyst will work on many different studies and projects providing an opportunity to use and further develop skills in planning and coordinating evaluation projects, analyzing data, writing summaries and reports, communicating with a wide range of audiences and collaborating with a variety of internal and external partners. Specific tasks will include conducting literature reviews, assisting with developing surveys and interview guides, conducting interviews, coordinating logistics for project activities, analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data and contributing to reports. Because the Analyst will support many studies, the specific tasks and responsibilities associated with the position may evolve and change over time.
Responsibilities
* Provide project support on multiple research and evaluation projects, including study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. * Balance the needs of multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines. * Liaise and coordinate with many different internal and external partners. * Self-manage time and resources effectively. * Follow all applicable privacy and confidentiality procedures in daily work.
Ideal Candidate
* Master’s degree in public health, nutrition or related field; or bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience working in food and nutrition programs. * Knowledge of a wide range of research and evaluation methods and processes, including literature reviews, qualitative methods, quantitative analysis, and technical writing. * Genuine interest in improving the impact of food and nutrition programs on program recipients. * Knowledge of federal food assistance and nutrition programs. * Strong writing skills. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Excellent time management and organizational skills and initiative. * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point required. * Technical proficiency in analytical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, STATA, NVivo) preferred.
