Summary

Responsible for mechanical design of products from concept, development, field installation, production launch and service. Includes responsibility for BOM, modeling of parts and maintaining and improving current products. Follows the leadership and coaching of the Team Leader and Engineering Manager; reports to Engineering Manager. The design engineer completes task with some direction from the Team Lead and/or Engineering Manager. Demonstrates the ability to complete tasks and small projects in a timely fashion. Works well within the team setting, openly shares perspective in team meetings contributes to discussion in a constructive manner.

Responsibilities

Product Design

  • Communicate with Team Leader, Engineering Manager and Product Manager to understand and verify product requirements and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineer/Quality Associate for manufacturing documentation
  • Customer interface and feedback of key features
  • Analyze and identify risks
  • Computer based design and simulation

Production readiness

  • Gain manufacturing inputs during Lean design activities
  • Mitigate production issues through engineering and product managers
  • Collaborate with ME/QA to assure successful manufacturing launch.
  • Support tech services
Ideal Candidate

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 years’ experience of product engineering
  • Strong project management skills , including building project schedules, resourcing, tracking, and reporting status
  • Understanding and appreciation of mechanical design and engineering best practices, utilizing 3D modeling for various materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be an excellent team-player with strong time-management and creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a deadline oriented, and fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

Education

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
