Summary
GSI is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our Engineering department in Assumption, IL. The Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of products from conception to product launch and service. Additionally, the Design Engineer will create model parts as well as maintain and improve current products.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with the Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and Product Manager to collect, understand, and verify product requirements and cost targets - Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineer and/or Quality Assurance Associate for manufacturing documentation as well as ensure successful manufacturing launch - Develop computer-based designs and simulations for new products - Analyze and identify design risks - Mitigate production issues by communicating with engineering and product managers
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications of the Design Engineer:** - 2-5 years of Product Engineering experience - A minimum of 2 years working with 3D modeling software, preferably Creo **Preferred Qualifications of the Design Engineer:** - Lean Manufacturing experience - Project Management experience - Experience working in the agriculture industry, specifically with swine and/or poultry related products - Experience designing sheet metal or plastic injection molded products **Education of the Design Engineer:** - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree

Relocation assistance is available to the Assumption, IL area for this position. Additionally, up to 20% travel will be required
